Annabeth on Returning to the Farm

Posted by Robert DuBois | Jun 01, 2010

Annabeth Roeschley came to our potluck on Spence Farm, and we had the opportunity to stay with her on their family hybrid seed farm in Central Illinois. She currently works at the Washington Youth Garden in Washington, DC.

I really appreciated Annabeth’s perspective on urban gardening, farming, and the fact that people she’d spoken with didn’t think anyone with a four-year degree should be farming. It gives good insight into how farming – and I’m careful to make a distinction between farming and food farming – is perceived here in the heartland of America.
